The Promotion Circle
I accidentally discovered that six managers are secretly rotating promotions to boost their salaries. The genius part? It's technically legal.
I noticed the pattern in our org chart updates. Six managers, rotating positions every 18 months like clockwork. Each 'promotion' came with a 15% raise. Their departments would reorganize, they'd swap roles, and Human Resources approved each move because technically, they were taking on 'new responsibilities.' The genius lies in its simplicity. After four cycles, they've all doubled their salaries. Each reorganization comes with impressive-looking efficiency metrics, but nothing actually changes except their job titles and pay. They've created a perpetual promotion machine that's gone unnoticed for years. Yesterday, during my annual review, they offered me a spot in their circle. A guaranteed path to double my salary in three years. All I have to do is keep quiet and play along. No one's breaking any rules - we're just exploiting a loophole that costs the company millions. But those millions could fund raises for the whole team, or new positions, or better benefits. The thing is, I've seen how hard it is to advance in this company. How many talented people get stuck because there's 'no budget' for promotions. Am I wrong for considering their offer?
